Finn Brown ATKM Post 3

Hierarchy:
Men:
Adam StantonAdam is a nearly a wholly good person. He did indeed have a few moral slips, but despite these, he stayed strong to his beliefs, which turned out to be true in the end. He was totally vocal about his dislike of Talos, and this is a thing that should be valued highly in the story. Eventually, he ended Talos' terrible existence. Whilst this is quite possibly a harsh gesture, it needed to be done to provide closure for the story.
Sugarboy: Sugarboy was a great character, but not necessarily a good person, considering his blind loyalty. He always stayed behind Willie, no matter what. This is a quality that is rare, and can both facilitate good or bad. Many a political candidate has been propelled by this blind optimism and belief. A 'yes man' doesn't make a good man.
Judge Irwin: Overall, the judge is a good character. He was very selfless when it came to his aid in Jack's upbringing. He committed quite a large act of desperation, which makes him a more legitimate human being. He is a good person, despite his shortcomings.
Governer Stanton: Governer Stanton is a good person, although his act of protecting Judge Irwin from facing the music was questionable. Therefor, he is a neutral person on this list.
Jack Burden: Jack is a good person, despite everything that he has done. From his willing support of Talos to his sad, self discovering trip to California, Jack filtered everything through a cynical, injured lens. In the end, he begins to see the world in a different view, reaffirming the ends justify the means theme of this book. From his 'Great Sleep' phase to the 'Great Twitch,' Jack's perception of many is overshadowed by several bad deeds, from his mistreatment of Lois to his dirt digging on the judge, he is overall a good person, though his ideals throughout much of the book can be interpreted in a negative lens.
Cass MasternCass Mastern is yet another good character. In my opinion, the ends justify the means. Willie is an overall terrible person, due to the product of his character after corruption overtook his personality. Cass is the opposite; after driving his friend to suicide, he tried and succeeded at changing his ways. In the end, he was a good person.
Scholarly AttorneyOverall, the Scholarly Attorney is a neutral person. He acted quite drastically to his wife cheating on him; shaping the path of his child's life in a negative way. However, after learning what he did later on in life, he is seen in a new light. His actions were rash, but he made up much of his damage with charity and good causes.
Willie TalosWillie is an overall bad person. Although he began as an honest individual, he eventually became a corrupt, weak individual that was no better than the political oligarchs that he fought so hard to defeat. Even though he built many infrastructural projects for the state, which in turn created jobs, they were all done with a very particular result in mind: re-election. Willie even accepted money to aid in his campaign from the very individuals that he was trying to push against so hard. This hypocrisy was completely predictable; Talos' political career followed a relatively predictable arc.
Tiny Duffy: Tiny Duffy may seem like the worst person on this list, however he wasn't completely unprovoked. After all, every time he is mentioned in Jack's narrative, a new colorful southernism is used to describe his weight. Of course, this can be traced back to his essential personality, but it isn't as if anyone made much of an effort to make Duffy into a better person.
Tom TalosTom Talos is a terrible little jerk. He made several poor decisions throughout  his short, miserable life that were written off due to the power of his father. This is one of the most aggravating things to do, or have done to you. Enough said.

Women:
Lucy: Lucy is an overall good person; she was a strong character in the fight against Willie, and an overall good person.
Phebe: Phebe was a slave in the Cass Mastern story. She was sold as a sex slave by her owner due to a personal issue. She did absolutely nothing wrong. However, her lack of power in any of these terrible situations and her lack of power to decide her fate makes her a neutral character, despite her inherent goodness.
Anne: Anne is a good, charitable person. Despite her affair with Talos, she did many a good thing, such as working in a children's hospital. In addition to these good qualities, she also held relatively strong to her morals, even after discovering her father's lapse.
Jack's Mom: Jack's mom, despite being overly promiscuous after her husband left, is a decent overall person, however, her overall negative effect on Jack's life renders her in a poor image. In my opinion, she was the root of Jack's troubles with women later on in his life.
Sadie: Sadie is a power-greedy person that frankly pressured many a political wrongdoing into action. Her neurotic tendencies pushed her friends and colleges into negative actions.
Trice: Annabelle Trice is a shallow, weak character who sold a innocent woman into sex slavery on a whim, without thinking anything of it. She is one of the main components in the premise of the Cass Mastern story, and definitely one of the main negative ones.
